Wix vs WordPress for SEO in Saudi Arabia: Which Should You Use?

Short answer

Wix is not bad for SEO. It handles the basics well and lets you edit titles, descriptions, redirects and structured data. WordPress is usually the better choice for a Saudi business that needs Arabic and English versions, fine control over performance, or room to grow, because it gives more control and does not tie the site to one vendor.

Both can rank. The difference is how much you can change when something goes wrong, and how much work a bilingual site takes. Here is how they compare on the points that matter.

Is Wix good for SEO?

Yes, for many sites. On its SEO features page Wix states that it generates a robots.txt file you can edit, lets you edit canonical tags and robots meta tags, creates XML sitemaps automatically, sets editable title and description tags, adds structured data to product, event and blog pages, lets you edit URL slugs with redirects handled for you, supports bulk 301 redirects (up to 500 URLs by CSV import), and connects to Google Search Console and Google Business Profile.

For a single-language brochure site with a handful of pages, that is enough to rank, provided the content is good.

Where is Wix limited for a Saudi business?

The limits show up with Arabic, with bilingual sites and with control over performance. Wix's own help pages describe some of them.

  • Right-to-left layout needs manual work in places. Wix says image galleries do not reverse their order automatically and must be reordered by hand per language, that videos must be replaced manually, and that for Wix apps such as Stores the writing direction applies to all languages, so it recommends centred alignment on mixed-direction sites.
  • Language tags. Wix's SEO features page does not mention hreflang. Wix Multilingual has its own SEO settings per language, so check the published page source yourself rather than assuming the tags are right.
  • Performance control. Wix states that it handles caching, a CDN and image optimisation for you. That helps beginners, and it also means less room to change the server or the scripts the platform loads if a speed problem appears.
  • Portability. Moving a Wix site to another platform later means rebuilding it and redirecting every address.

What does WordPress offer?

WordPress gives you control over almost every part of the site. You choose the hosting, the theme, the SEO plugin and the multilingual setup, and you own the files and the database. That freedom is also the risk: a poor theme, too many plugins or a slow host can hold a site back.

For Arabic and English, a well-built WordPress site can have separate pages per language, clean hreflang, right-to-left styling and fast templates. Our WordPress SEO service covers the setup in detail, and our own site runs on WordPress with Elementor and Rank Math.

Which should a Saudi business choose?

Choose Wix if the site is small, in one language and unlikely to grow into dozens of pages. Choose WordPress if you need Arabic and English, expect to add content steadily, want to control speed, or may later need a custom feature such as bookings or a catalogue. If you are selling products online, look at the e-commerce options before deciding, since stores have their own constraints: see choosing a platform for a Saudi business website and e-commerce SEO in Saudi Arabia.

Cost matters too. What a site costs depends on the build more than on the platform name: see website development cost in Saudi Arabia.

How to test any platform before you commit

  1. View the source of a demo pageSearch for hreflang, canonical and the meta description. Each should appear once and be correct.
  2. Check redirectsConfirm you can set a 301 from an old address to a new one without a developer.
  3. Run a demo through PageSpeed InsightsLook at the real-user data if it exists, and the mobile lab result if not.
  4. Switch to ArabicCheck that the layout reverses, forms work and images and sliders behave correctly.
  5. Ask how to leaveFind out how to export your content and address structure before you build.

If you are already on one platform and wondering whether it is holding you back, an SEO audit will say so with evidence, or you can start with the free audit request.
